Send Me™ Athena Women's Tee - Heather Grey
The Send Me™ Athena Women's Tee is in recognition of the women who represent the message we began sharing in November of 2016 (Send Me video). The resounding responses across the world to #SendMe were the motivating components behind this tee.
Athena, the goddess associated with wisdom, handicraft, and warfare, was regarded as the patron and protectress of various cities across Greece, particularly the city of Athens, and was the patron goddess of heroic endeavor. Since the Renaissance, Athena has become an international symbol of wisdom, the arts, classical learning, freedom, and democracy.
The golden colored ink represents the color of the helmet Athena wore into battle. The owl on the front of the shirt represents or accompanies Athena. Though there are many theories that associate the owl with Athena such as their bright eyes and ability to see in the dark, the owl became a symbol of wisdom and motivation during during battle. The letters "AOE" on the back of the shirt are an acronym that is translated into "of the Athenians", who contributed greatly to the fields of philosophy, science, and maintained one of the most well documented democratic systems of ancient times.
Available in three colors (White, Black, & Heather Grey), we are proud to have a shirt that is not only a reflection of those women who resemble the attributes of Athena with wisdom and heroism, but also the women who answer a calling and the women who support our modern day Athenas.
